Age is just a number !! But are we ready to accept this fact ?
we often came across this statement age is just a number but deep down somewhere in the corner of our hearts we are not ready to accept this fact. we casually throw this statement to act all modern, relevant but we are the only one's commenting and making memes when Priyanka chopra married Nick Jonas. I'll be really honest even my family was all up in their business as if Priyanka and Nick didn't thought of this decision through. Why are we still so hesitant when somebody asks our daughter's age, why the mother's are so reluctant to admit that their daughter's are aging and are now above 25 but still our dearest mother's label their daughter's age between 18-24 ideal age for girl's in my society. Because we as a society have labelled girl's above 25 as expiry for marriages. It's 2019 but yet we fall back in progressing forward still it's considered okay to marry your daughter's to men that have immense age difference and the beloved aunties are always circulating their radar's to search for an age appropriate girl (18-24) to marry their son's to. But why is this so when we'll learn to honestly accept the fact that "age is just a number". Why my mother has to lie when rishta aunties are asking about my age, why can I be the one to reject or accept someone based on their age, their body shape, their skin color, why can't I be the one to list out my priorities and not adjust myself according to the demands of other party. Why my mother has to exaggerate the qualities I don't even have just to make them like me, why can't she be real with my personality. Why we still go heavily mad when the woman is older then her man, why we start blabbering over their lives and start dishing out our thoughts and assumptions" zarur larki ne phaysa hoga". Let's be real for once and stop this hypocrisy, let's encourage our daughter's that it's okay to disclose their age in front of everyone no need to hide behind lies, let's comfort our mother's that their daughter's are strong enough independent to handle this society's inadequate norms. I am 26 and my mama is proud of me because she knows she raised a woman who is fearless and can handle all type of blarney with all smiles and confidence. Let's raise our daughter's with confidence, without the fear of hiding and with an attitude that discourages all nonsense ridiculousness with a smile that can bring positive change to conservative mentalities.
