Social anxiety is an alarming issue !!

what you see when you look at me, you see a girl who looks fine, but what’s inside her mind, hundreds of thoughts running like wild boars. She is trying her best to keep her calm, act all happy and natural without showing how afraid or hesitant she is, she is trying so hard not to do something that breaks her build up image as from a very young age people often refer her as a girl with intelligence, shy and calm, and God knows each day she is working hard trying to maintain this label be someone she is not, afraid to communicate, afraid to tell you she is capable of unimaginable things, she is not dependable, she is not shy, she is a girl that has her own voice, opinions that could start a whole new debate, she is the fire that could light a new path, she is so confident that when’ll you’ll speak to her you’ll get intimidated, she is everything you portray as an independent woman should be. But why she is afraid, why she is hesitant to speak her mind, why she is so conscious of every step she takes, afraid to show the world her true colors, what is hindering her to come out of her shell, break down her guards, have you ever given a thought what she might be battling through each day.

Assumptions, judgements are easy to make, but have we ever given a thought about what people like this girl is suffering, she is suffering with something that we as a society consider as nothing, something that we consider so small that we never had an idea of what they might be going through each day as they try to keep their calm but inside they are wrestling with a storm that is everlasting.

People never take psychological problems seriously, to us it’s just a phase and we often come up with statements: “you’ll get over it, just relax”.

we have never given a thought to why as each day unfolds, we are sensing loneliness, even in this high tech modern connected world where you can connect to anyone within a spilt of seconds, yet our hearts are losing faith, feeling of emptiness stays as if it is caged there. We might be filling up our ego’s with thousands of likes on our social media's but still we feel lonely. Means of communication are raptured as there seems to be no one we can speak our hearts too, leading individuals towards psychological issues like depression, anxiety, and many others.

Social anxiety is one of these issues, intense anxiety or fear of being judged, negatively evaluated, or rejected in a social or performance situation. She can be everything but have we ever thought that her social anxiety is stopping her from being free, stopping her from shining, from making new acquaintances, she tried speaking about it but again her anxiety issues strikes where she is scared that people might call her different names “psycho”, “mental” and other kind words that we as educated humans (sarcastic statement) often absolute to people battling each day with psychological problems.

This girl holds back and cages this never-ending storm inside her because she knows that if she ever breaks free, the so-called image would break, people will never understand her problem but instead make memes out of it. We humans are becoming so insensitive that without even understanding the whole problem we tend to conclude it and often in such cases make preys of psychological issues the culprits of their own sufferings. We’ve become so insensitive that we often say out loud harsh words without even realizing the fact that someone around us, or someone sitting besides us might be going through a psychological trauma.

We as human beings are prone towards being judgmental, but if we understand and learn and accept what psychological problems truly are and how these issues effects individuals that their true personalities never outshine. We can surely help that girl who wants to break free and show the world what she is capable of, she is everything that you could ever imagine of, she just needs a little sunshine that ends her thundering storm and gives her serenity.

We need to take initiatives to implement programs that raise awareness in helping individuals battling with psychological problems and perceive these problems as serious illness that slowly kills an individual’s personality and effects not only them but other’s around them.
